What to say when you talk to yourself

Hi everybody. Cheryl Knowlton coming at you with today’s dynamite tip of the day. And today’s tip is a book. We haven’t done a book talk for a little while. It was one of the very first books that I was ever introduced to as I started my journey of personal development by reading amazing books. It is called What to Say When You Talk to Yourself by Dr. Shad Helmstetter, and the only thing I don’t love about this book is that it is not available in Audible, but it is absolutely phenomenal and let’s take a look at the things that we say to ourselves.

One of the things that I hear most often from other amazing speakers like Mel Robbins is if your inside voice were ever made public, you would be institutionalized and that is not good. The things we say to ourselves are so negative, so profoundly horrible that if somebody else were talking to you, your mother, or your sister, or a friend, or talking to the way you talk to yourself, you would never hang out with that person ever, ever again.

Stop it. Stop talking to yourself in such horrible, negative terms. And instead, when you catch yourself saying something negative to yourself, stop it and rephrase it in a positive and encouraging way that is going to motivate you to make a positive change if a positive change is necessary, but that is my tip of the day and of a lifetime. Stop being so hard on yourself. Recognize all of the amazing things that you’re doing. Celebrate the good things that you’re doing. And when you get a chance, you can go onto Amazon or any book buying the public site and find What to Say When You Talk to Yourself by Dr. Shad Helmstetter. It really, really is a life changing book. Enjoy it.
