Surround yourself with people who bring out the best in you

Hi, everybody. Cheryl Knowlton, CEO of Dynamite Productions coming at you with your tip of the day. I want to put in a plug for the Real Estate Educators Association. As I think back over my career, for whatever reason, a lot of people have asked me in the last couple of weeks, “How did you start out as a speaker and how did your career evolve?” And that’s a story for another day. The long story is accidental.

I spoke at several different events for the State of Louisiana

Recently, I had the opportunity to speak several different days for the State of Louisiana. They hired me to create their Mandatory Curriculum for 2020, which was on fair housing, one of my core four topics that I absolutely adore speaking on. I wrote a manual for them, student manual, instructor manual and a very complex and in-depth PowerPoint presentation with lots and lots of games. I’m actually really rather proud of it.

As I delivered my presentation the last day, it was a mandatory train the trainer event. There was a gentleman there who was a fellow Distinguished Real Estate Instructor and he gave me a compliment that brought tears to my eyes. It has always meant a lot to me to be a Distinguished Real Estate Instructor, which is a designation bestowed by the Real Estate Educators Association, and he told me that I was absolutely everything that a DREI should be and that I was the epitome and embodiment of the spirit of DREI.

I cry if paint dries

I am not going to lie, I cry if the paint dries, right. I cried. It just reminded me that I am where I am today because of incredible individuals, both men, and women who have gone before me, who have been such incredible examples to me of who I wanted to be when I grow up.

The bottom line for you today, surround yourself with people who are going to bring out the best in you, who are going to inspire you, who are going to push you on to become the most magical and fabulous version of yourself. If there’s anything I can ever do to help you along with that journey, I hope that you will not hesitate to reach out. I am eternally grateful to those who have gone before me, to the Real Estate Educators Association, the role they’ve played in my life, and what it means to me to be a Distinguished Real Estate Instructor.
