One of my most favorite mentors is an amazing man by the name of Michael Port. I am doing his Heroic Public Speaking program right now. In my curriculum this week he said just a little line that just really, really, struck me. He said, “Leaders read.”
That’s so, so powerful. I know that to be the case. I know the statistic that vast majority of CEOs read 62 books a year. That’s one a week. That seems like a lot. But if you utilize tools like audible it can make it a lot easier.
In 2017 I had a goal of reading 52 books. I actually read 63. This last year I had a goal of reading 52 books again, but in the back of my mind I wanted to try and beat that. I still had a week and a half left and had just finished book number 73. I am telling you that leaders absolutely read.
When you read you surround yourself with powerful amazing brilliant people who can take your career and your mind set to new heights. So that is my advice to you.
You want to surround yourself with people who are going to make you look great and get them in your head. Get yourself thinking bigger, bolder thoughts by surrounding yourself with amazing books.
