Invest in yourself and you will be rich

Hi everybody. Cheryl Knowlton coming at you with your Dynamite Tip of the Day. Here it is, and this is something I get very, very passionate about so forgive me if I step onto my soapbox for just a second.

I absolutely adore my hairdresser. I also absolutely adore my massage therapist, and if you look at both my hairdresser and my massage therapist they have something very important in common, and not just the fact that they keep me sane and happy.

A hairdresser require more education than a real estate licensee

They both had to take two thousand hours of continuing education prior to obtaining their license. That is a lot of time invested in perfecting a craft and becoming very, very good at it, and let’s get very, very real here.

A real estate licensee in the State of Utah only needs 120 hours of pre-licensing education in the State of Nevada it’s only 90, and in many other states, it varies.

120 is the most that I personally know about. If you know of a state that requires more please let me know so that I can send them a thank you note for raising the bar of professionalism prior to licensure.

You think about it, you get a bad haircut, devastating as it is when it happens, it will grow back. We as real estate professionals are invited to sit on the front lines of people’s lives and help them with the largest purchase or the largest sale that they will ever have in their lives most likely. With very, very little pre-licensing education, and not very much post-licensing education either if we’re really, really serious about it.

I want to take you on a journey, hopefully, and invite you to take a much, much harder look at the education that you personally invest in. So many people have said amazing quotes along the lines of, “Formal education will make you a living, but investing in yourself will make you rich.” It will make you … It will help you to leave a legacy.

Spend money and time into raising your own bar of professionalism

Think very carefully about the time and the money and the energy and the effort you spend on raising the bar of professionalism in your own business. Id love to see you in one of my post licensing designation courses so that you can truly learn to raise the bar.

Hopefully you’re going to have great massages and hopefully, you’re going to have great haircuts for the rest of your life but in the meantime, let’s raise the bar for professionalism in real estate and let it start right here.

That is your Dynamite Tip of the Day and hopefully, I will see you in class very soon.
